Looks totally legit

September 30th, 2011

Clearly this is a legitimate organization and not just some Ponzi scheme. And yeah, the poster looks unprofessional, but so what? The people in charge are too busy directing dump trucks full of $100 bills into their driveways while experiencing emotional freedom to bother to learn to use InDesign properly.

House 530 opening soon

House Thai

The perpetually vacant spot on Valencia between Blondie’s and Limon finally removed their plywood to reveal… yet another Thai restaurant! If at this point you’re wondering whether there’s more Thai restaurants or Thai people in San Francisco, I think it’s safe to bet on the restaurants.

As Grub Street reported several months ago, this spot was previously a punk venue with a strange history.

When to wash your hands

Not sure if Pi Bar really has a problem with this in their bathroom, but it’s good advice nonetheless.

New human blood flavored ice cream at Bi-Rite Creamery

Ice cream vampire

Or at least that’s what I’m assuming, based on to this new piece next to the line to Bi-Rite Creamery. That kid is striking a classic Dracula pose with his massive ice cream cone.

San Francisco bridges

September 12th, 2011

Ah yes, the Golden Gate Bridge and the Bay Bridge, two icons of the San Francisco bay.

Or are they? Actually I lied — neither bridge pictured are located in San Francisco. One is in Portugal, the other Scotland.

Both are sister bridges of the Bay Bridge, according to Wikipedia, and were built by the same company. But the paint color on the first happens to be quite similar to the red-orange color of the Golden Gate Bridge.

Admit it, you were fooled for a second there.

Local arepa restaurant and ever changing tiger mural spot has added some outdoor seating.

With Four Barrel’s hipster jungle gym parklet just down the street, will Little Star be next in line for an extension into the realm of public space, or will Zeitgeist beat them to it?

Angry bird

September 5th, 2011

Looks pretty pissed. So pissed that if this guy were a character in Angry Birds, I’d hope he was of the useful birds. Not one of those throw away birds, like the impossible boomerang one or the zero-damage causing egg bomb thing. This tough bird is angry and means business.

A Philz cup at Four Barrel? That’s like busting out your Dell at the Apple Store.
