{"id":790,"date":"2010-12-06T02:14:48","date_gmt":"2010-12-06T02:14:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.mrericsir.com\/blog\/?p=790"},"modified":"2023-07-14T16:57:38","modified_gmt":"2023-07-14T16:57:38","slug":"santacon","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mrericsir.com\/blog\/local\/santacon\/","title":{"rendered":"Santacon"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Yesterday was the 2010 <a href=\"http:\/\/sanfranciscosantarchy.wordpress.com\/\">Santacon<\/a>, also known as Santarchy, also know as &#8220;mommy why is Santa vomiting on our front porch?&#8221; day.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">I started out in the Castro where there were a lot of interesting costumes including Jack from the Nightmare Before Christmas, a blue Santa, and two young women inexplicably dressed as penguins.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This first photo is from the deck at the Lookout. On the left you can see one of Santa&#8217;s soldiers, complete with jolly war paint and a candy cane machine gun. The guy on the right with a mask was wearing an all red ninja outfit of some sort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/mrericsir\/5236671958\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5083\/5236671958_832bdf8fbc.jpg\" alt=\"Lookout\"\/><\/a><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\"><em>Photo by Alexia Anthem<\/em><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Later in the evening I headed to North Beach, where the lack of interesting costumes was made up for by an abundance of alcohol.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">In this photo, drunken Santas had effectively stopped traffic on Grant between Vallejo and Green. Two Santas had taken it upon themselves to misdirect traffic away from this mess and into a traffic jam, but it didn&#8217;t stop more determined\/stupid drivers from pushing their way through the crowd.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/mrericsir\/5236651176\/\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/farm6.static.flickr.com\/5248\/5236651176_bff6247751.jpg\" alt=\"Grant St.\"\/><\/a><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One other interesting note is this year&#8217;s Santa madness happened to fall on the same night as Krampusnacht, the night when Santa&#8217;s <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Krampus\">evil alter-ego<\/a> punishes bad Children.
