This is why Buzzfeed has an Alexa ranking of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alexa.com\/siteinfo\/buzzfeed.com\">221<\/a> whereas, let&#8217;s say The Atlantic, is ranked far lower at <a href=\"http:\/\/www.alexa.com\/siteinfo\/theatlantic.com\">1,868.<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">So why does our government keep producing longreads? Just look at the Obamacare bill; according to Wikipedia <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Patient_Protection_and_Affordable_Care_Act\"> it&#8217;s 906 pages.<\/a> And that&#8217;s nothing compared to all 73,954 pages <a href=\"http:\/\/finance.townhall.com\/columnists\/politicalcalculations\/2013\/02\/17\/how-many-pages-long-is-the-us-income-tax-code-in-2013-n1514277\">of federal income tax laws.<\/a> Who has time for that? We all have to pay taxes and take care of our health, but you&#8217;d need superpowers to plow through all those documents on your own.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">It wasn&#8217;t always this way. In fact, a few of our first national laws <a href=\"http:\/\/www.archives.gov\/exhibits\/charters\/bill_of_rights_transcript.html\">were in listicle format.<\/a> But somewhere along the way we got off track.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Next time you see your government representative tell them you&#8217;ve had enough of their lengthy manifestos. From now on you want simple laws you can read, preferably with lists and animated GIFs of cats falling off chairs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Because that&#8217;s what everyone wants these days; after all it was enough to bait you into reading this post.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>\u00a0Consider this for a moment: What do people enjoy reading these days?
